We’ve taken Charlottetown by storm! Last week we were interviewed by local reporter, Steve Bruce, about our lives without a fridge. This story has sparked quite a debate online, which you can check out here. Enjoy!
Hi Dona and Vibhu, this is soooo inspiring to me! I’m going to show this to my kids today and am looking at my big old fridge differently, for sure. Where do you get the clay insulation bag?
It’s actually just one of those upside down tomato plant hangers. I got it last year out at Vessey’s. It works best if you have a shady place you can hang it because the fabric dries up quickly in the hot mid-day sun. We’re also thinking about digging a hole in the backyard, lining it with a tarp, and keeping it covered. The cool earth will work as a great insulator too!
Awesome clip! Steve Bruce did an excellent job, and it was nice to see you guys on video. I loved the shot of you two walking to the store with your reusable bag. : )
I have to admit we’ve gone the opposite way with our fridge…we bought a freezer! We’re buying 90% of our food at Trader Joe’s (which is 35 min away) and realized that with baby coming and Duarte studying full time, I wouldn’t be able to get out to the store often enough to get fresh ingredients. It was a tough decision – more electricity and money (for the freezer and to run it) in order to save on petrol and time/not feel pressure to compromise on what food we’re eating.
Wow!!! Tooooo cool. way to go you two. So proud.
Very Cool Dona…
